My senior thesis explores the relationship between food, culture, and identity through an Eastern vs. Western lens by asking the core question:
How can we bring traditional values back into the kitchen lifestyles of American families by examining approaches to cooking through a different cultural lens?
In today’s cooking culture, loss of time creates a disconnect between appreciation of the processes of both cooking and easting. As appreciation for serving and eating of food become less significant and separated from the cooking process, the communal values of sharing a meal with the family is lost.
My goal is to design a product that bridges the gap between cookware and serveware to create seamless transitions between cooking, serving, and eating.
