The new Foodsaver Preserve & Marinate containers introduces a series of containers specially designed for both vacuum food storage and quick marinating.
Previous design vs. updated design
We made the decision to pursue a soft pill shape for the family of containers for both aesthetic and functional reasons. The soft rectangle form finds a natural home within the overall refreshed FoodSaver visual design language. The generous rounds helps create structural stability, especially when the container is under vacuum conditions.
We worked closely with our Usability team to evaluate prototypes and conduct internal studies to investigate all aspects of the user's journey - understanding the valve functionality, using different handheld accessories, evaluating labels, and opening the container.
We evaluated how different sealing geometries would affect the overall product aesthetic and tactile feedback. A wiper seal was recommended as it posed various benefits, both aesthetically and functionally.
